But what do they do for us social bowlers?
Too many answer that question with “I don’t know…”
which gives them “no reason” to support the USLBA
Unfortunately, it has become one of the mysteries of our time: What do Bowls’ parent organizations provide for bowlers who don’t compete beyond the club level? Most of the mystery can be blamed on World Bowls and the United States Lawn Bowls Association, who have neglected to let their members know (1) what they’ve done and (2) what they’re doing to keep the sport alive and well. So here’s a list of their heftier functions. Most bowlers actually know about these duties, but some slip away from memory and some are taken for granted.

From National Senior Games:
What a difference a little P.R. makes!
No sooner had lawn bowls been featured in all the local papers as part of the National Senior Games when some gentleman walked into the host Palo Alto club and asked: "How much is membership?" Told it was $95 he signed up on the spot! He did not even want to roll a bowl first! The games had not even started!
Local and national visitors have been dropping by all week, as well as reporters and photographers.
With a continuous and sustained year round marketing outreach program, Palo Alto, California, has more than doubled in size in 4 years. They have over 170 members and are on track for 200 by the end of 2010.
And despite 13,000 other atheletes in town, the mayor showed up to present the lawn bowling medals. It pays to keep your city in the loop!
