OFFICERS
Colin
Smith - President
Colin
Smith learned to bowl as a teenager in Grimsby, England
playing for the Royal British Legion in club and league
competition. He emigrated to the US in 1979 and joined
Essex County LBC where he has been president since 1995.
Colin was President of Eastern Division ALBA in 1998
and was the first President of the Northeast Division
USLBA following the merger of the men’s and ladies divisions
in 2002. He is also a past president of the Edison Indoor
Lawn Bowling Club and a current member of the Dupont
LBC. Colin has served as a councilor from the Northeast
Division since 1997.
Colin
met his wife Deborah in 1976 and was married in England
in 1978. They have one daughter Jacqueline who is an
aspiring actress. Both Debbie and Jackie are lawn bowlers
and members of Essex County LBC. In competition in the
US, Colin finished 3rd in 1997 National Open Triples,
Runner-up in 1999 US Pairs Championships, 3rd in 2001
National Open Fours, 2nd in 2003 National Open Fours.
He
has won numerous division events including Northeast
Division Bowler of the Year in 2000. In 2002 and 2004
Colin was selected as an alternate to play for the US
National Team against Canada, winning with the team
in 2002, and was narrowly defeated in 2004.
Muriel
Rackliff - Vice President
Muriel
Rackliff started lawn bowling in 1980 when she retired
from her career as office manager of the Harrisburg
PA School District. Muriel founded the ladies Suncoasters
AWLBA organization of the Muriel RackliffSun City Center
LBC in Florida. She served eight years as American Women’s
Lawn Bowls Association Treasurer, and four years as
a member of the women’s Team USA selection committee.
Muriel
also served as co-chair of the international Atlantic
Rim Games on the occasion of this event’s inaugural
appearance in the U.S. in 1993. Muriel bowled on two
U.S. national teams: in Hong Kong in 1991, and in Victoria,
Canada in 1993, One of Muriel’s best achievements was
when she managed Women’s Team USA in 1995. At the Pacific
Rim Games that year in New Zealand, her team medaled
in the fours and brought home the first such award in
20 years.
Numerous
division and club competitive titles reside in Muriel’s
list of achievements along with seven appearances competing
in the United States Championships. She currently resides
in Sun City Center, Florida.
Tom
Kees - Secretary
Tom
Kees hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was an
undergraduate student at Maryville College, and did
hTom Keesis graduate work at Fairleigh Dickenson. While
in the military Tom served with the United States Army
Counter Intelligence Corps. Although his business career
varied, it culminated with 35 years with Sears, Roebuck
& Co.
Tom
is an Elder and a Deacon in his church, and is a Past
President of his Lawn Bowling Club. Tom, and his wife
Nancy, have three children and six grandchildren.
Brian
Studwell - Treasurer
Some
of us call Brian "Mr Henselite". Not only
is bowls his passion, it is his business too as he is
the Henselite
distributor for the USA. He belongs to multiple
clubs in the L.A. area, has won many bowls trophies,
and also serves as treasurer of the SW Division.
